Tonight, the BBC will broadcast the new drama, Marie Antoinette. Marie Antoinette tells the story of the modern and avant-garde young queen who left Austria at the age of 14 to marry the Dauphin of France.

She must produce a Bourbon heir to ensure France and Austria's alliance, but she is as unprepared for the role because of her awkward teenage husband. With Louis still not consummating the marriage four months later, Marie realises that producing an heir will be difficult.

Emilia Schüle will play the role of Marie Antoinette. She will be joined by an international cast including Louis Cunningham, Jack Archer, Jasmine Blackborow, Gaia Weiss, James Purefoy, Marthe Keller.

The show is divided into eight episodes. They will air every Thursday at 9pm on BBC Two. The first episode will premiere tonight at 9pm. You can also watch all eight episodes right now on BBC iPlayer.

According to Variety and Deadline, filming took place in locations such as Vaux-le-Vicomte, the Palace of Fontainebleau, Lésigny, Champs and Voisins, and the Châteaux of Versailles.
