Attractions

Nearly any time of year, visitors are sure to be entertained by the many attractions offered.

For the outdoor enthusiast, the options are endless and include hiking, biking, climbing and golfing. The town has a seasonal outdoor ice skating rink and a skate park attraction with three distinct areas of terrain provides hours of enjoyment for the pre-teen and teenager. Castle Rock has 19 developed parks, (about 265 acres); and 51 miles of soft-surface and paved trails, with more than 50 additional miles of trails planned.

The Castle Rock Recreation Center offers a wide variety of amenities and programs. From water slides to racquetball and fitness boot camps to art and pottery classes, they offer something for everyone.

The Town boasts attractions such as a community theatre and a unique theatre that specializes in magic, illusions and special effects; a wine festival ranked as one of the five best in the state; an international art festival with more than 180 juried artists; historic tours; an authentic castle; in-line hockey rink; multi-plex cinema; fair grounds and event center complex with daily competitions and events, and a summer-long renaissance festival reminiscent of the days of chivalry and jousting and a wildlife museum. With so many attractions and activities to choose, you may have to stay longer!

Rock Park

Visitors can climb this historic landmark through a looped single-track trail system. From these trails, hikers can reach the base of the Rock and are afforded panoramic views of Downtown Castle Rock, the I-25 corridor, Pikes Peak and the Front Range. This hike offers rocky and uneven terrain.

Castle Rock Zipline Tours

Coming in Fall 2014, the new amenity, to be named Castle Rock Zip Lines and Aerial Trekking, will have three different features for residents. The zip line tour will have nine different courses of zip lines as long as 1,000 feet. Daredevils will reach speeds of more than 50 miles per hour and get incredible views of local scenery.

Castle Rock SkatePark

Castle Rock Skatepark includes three distinct areas of skate-able terrain: a street area, variable depth bowl and a beginner area. These areas include ramps, steps, rails and other popular skatepark obstacles. The concrete is colored for visible appeal and to reduce glare.

Skiing in Castle Rock?

In a state known for its skiing, how likely is it that people will head to a year-round snow-sports center covered with synthetic snow? Very. At least that’s what Shawn Temple, development director at Weston Solutions Inc., thinks. Recently the company entered into a letter of intent with the town of Castle Rock for a public-private partnership to develop the Castle Rock Year-Round Snow Sports Center at Philip S. Miller Park.
