Summary[]

Ben leaps into a priest who has been called to assist a family in crisis on Halloween night. As he delves into mysterious and inexplicable events, he's forced to muster all his resources as a scientist before time runs out.

Synopsis[]

October 31, 1934: Ben arrives in Maryland in the body of Father James Davenport. Ben arrives at a mansion to exorcise a Demon from Daisy Gray that is possessing her. While Ben starts the exorcism, Addison flickers out. She finds Ian who is working on Ziggy and the imaging chamber. They talk about how Daisy can't actually be possessed, but Ian shares that Sam Beckett thought that God controlled the Leaps.

Back in 1934, Ben is wondering if the demon is actually there. Dr. Watts wants to help Daisy with medical treatments, but the Gray's religious faith is in his way of helping. When Ben and Dr. Watts are talking about Daisy and the demon, Ben tells him there has to be a reasonable explanation to what is happening. As they are talking, they hear Daisy scream when Ben gets there he sees Aunt Tessa on the dresser dead.

Back in 2022, Ian sees a Reddit post with the death of Aunt Tessa. Therefore, Ben and Dr. Watts investigate what might have really happened. Ben finds a rotting fish under Daisy's bed, and Magda, one of the maids, explains why she put the fish there and shares that Aunt Tessa cut Charles out of the will, leaving Percy and Daisy as her heirs. When Ben and Dr. Watts re-interview Magda, she says that Charles was cut out on Daisy's 18th birthday because he made bad investments and lost his money. Aunt Tessa offered to give him money, but he said he was not one of her charity cases.

Throughout the episode, Ben is going in to the bathroom to talk to Addison who is blocked by tech problems. Therefore, Ben uses Father James Davenport's faith for another exorcism. Ben takes a drink, but he starts hallucinating and passes out. He wakes up in a similar set up to Daisy's room. He sees Addison, but she is just another hallucination.

When Ben wakes up he goes to the glass from where he drank and notices he was drugged. He asked Magda what she picked up for Percy. Ben looks in the encyclopedia and finds jimsonweed causes all of Daisy's symptoms and is lethal in high doses. Percy was putting it in Daisy's soup. Ben and Dr. Watts later tell Daisy, and they stage a confession where Daisy "dies", and they have a funeral for her. When the "Demon comes back" Percy confesses to drugging her. Lola confesses they both were going to run away with the money. Daisy forgives Lola, but the cop arrested both of them.

Back at 2022, Ian sees that the Reddit post disappeared. meaning Ben fixed what went wrong in 1934. Jenn and Addison talk about her and Ben's relationship. Her parents’ divorce led her to not want marriage until she met Ben, but she fears he may never return. Daisy thanks Father James Davenport who is actually Ben, and she promises to continue Aunt Tessa's work by donating the money to charity. Daisy tells Ben, as Father Davenport, she said he had black hair and eyes like Ben. As Ben is about to Leap, he sees Janis Calavicci who was the Smokey Demon he was seeing all episode. Ben then jumps to a school were he and a group of kids run away and one of them calls him Ben.

Factual errors[]

  • A full moon is shown over the house, and bright moonlight is shown through the windows. The Moon phase for October 31st, 1934 is a waning quarter phase.[1][2]
  • Ian uses Reddit to find a post about some history of Ben's current leap. When Ben has changed history, the post disappears, but instead of showing Reddit's error page, a basic/generic "404 PAGE NOT FOUND" error page is shown instead.
