Incredible psychological horror with violence, intense scenes

Probably the best horror film I've seen. Kathy Bates is exceptional as Annie Wilkes and James Can could not have been better casted. It doesn't have any sex at all, a few f bombs in one scene written down and there is not much violence until the end which is very extreme (not to mention the infamous sledgehammer scene) . There is a long fight scene which includes eye gouging, shooting, shoving paper down the throat and more. But other than that, nothing too bad and a must see for any film buff.

"I'm your number one fan. There's nothing to worry about. You're going to be just fine. I will take good care of you. I'm your number one fan."

Misery is a 1990 horror thriller drama directed by Rob Reiner and starring Kathy Bates and James Caan.Language(3/5): The film has 9 uses of “f**k”, 3 uses of “G**”, 2 uses of “c**ksucker”, “b**ch”, “damn” and “hell”, and 1 use of “d**o”, the middle finger gesture, “Chr**t” and “bastard”. The film has 24 total curses.Sex, Romance and Nudity(2/5): A magazine cover is briefly shown in the beginning that shows a man hugging a topless woman(no nudity is visible).Drinking, Drugs and Smoking(3/5): The writer is repeatedly drugged with pills and once with a syringe. Wine and champagne are consumed, and the writer smokes a cigarette a few times.Violence(5/5): The writer gets into a violent car crash, we learn that his legs are broken and we see his face bloodied. An insane fan of the writer holds him captive for the entirety of the film, tying him to a bed, and we see the strain this has on the writer. The insane fan threatens him and harms him multiple times, including putting lighter fluid on him and pulling out a box of matches, forcefully giving him a syringe and forcefully breaking his legs even more when he heals. In one scene, the fan grabs a sledgehammer and breaks both of the writer’s ankles, we see him screaming in pain as his ankles pop out. The insane fan is also revealed to have murdered many people, including children, while she worked at a hospital. In the finale, the two get into a vicious fight, including guns, attempted choking, throwing heavy objects and starting a fire. The insane fan eventually dies after a statue falls on her. A man is killed by a shot in the back by a shotgun, we see his bloodied shirt.Positive Messages: None.Positive Role Models and Representations: The writer is forced to fight for his survival, but nobody’s actions are worth imitating.Watching Experience: Nothing of note with my experience regarding mature content.Quality(opinionated): (My rating)Rated RFor strong violence, some bloody images and brief language including a slur.

Good but a bit gory.

I watched this about a year ago when I was 12 and I thought it’s was a bit gory, although the acting was good and the plot was funny and cool, but it’s not for younger audiences, I’d say it comes at the 16+ mark, maybe someone who is mature enough could watch it at a younger age.

Well crafted piece starring an Oscar winner

It was a surprisingly well crafted film with Kathy Bates. The only part I think preteens would have to avert their glance from is the sledgehammer scene.

Fine if your mature

Of your child is not mature this is not the movie for them. The language is profane but not used strongly or very many times. What really shines is the creeps. Misery is a step up from the it miniseries or child's play. So if it can't handle this watch those. Not a lot of blood or fire and it not used to scare as some horror movies do. Overall I say misery is fine for kids 11 and up.

one of the most underrated horror movies of all time

great horror film. the gore isnt too realistic because it was made in the 90s. she does take a sledgehammer to a mans ankles one at a time but thats the only part i feel was overly gory/violent. no sex or nudity at all.

Another excellent king adaptation.

What a movie! It centers around a writer who is rescued by his number one fan, who after discovering he killed off her favorite character, becomes a sad*stic torturer. There are a couple of rather terrifying moments toward the end (most notably the hobbling scene). There is a decent amount of violence throughout as she tortures him. Also, there is language. But a 13 year old who doesn’t scare easily would be able to take this one, and probably really enjoy it.

Funniest Thriller I've Ever Seen When I Was 15 Years Old.

Misery was such a funniest film that I've ever seen. I'd put the rating to 12 because it contains some moderate violence and moderate profanity which is at the PG-13 level. My funniest moments from Misery is hobbling scene, I know that you guys may not be comfortable with this scene, but I can handle this and this is really funny. So I suggest you to let your teens watch it, in the UK: thank god it rated 15, by the way this shouldn't be gotten a 18, this should be 15 and I'm proud of it. In the United States, this should be a PG-13 by now. My Suggestive Rating in the USA: PG-13.

Can a 10 year old watch what if? ›

(There's also a zombie episode coming up that doesn't seem pleasant. At all.) 7-years-old and up seems to be the best bet for this series, but even a bit older is probably best.
